El Rancho de las Golondrinas Civil War Weekend

148th Anniversary —2010

April 30th through May 2nd, 2010.

This event, co-sponsored by the NM Civil War Commemorative Congress (NMCWCC) & the Golondrinas Museum, will commemorate the 148th anniversary of the Battles of Apache Canyon & Glorieta Pass that occurred March 25th & 27th 1862, respectively. All re enactors are required to abide by the NMCWCC safety rules. There is a $5.00 registration fee payable on entry to the site and all re-enactors are required to sign a liability waiver. To speed the registration process please print out the registration and Liability Waiver forms and have them completed before you reach the site. NMCWCC will provide firewood, straw and water.

Please Read Carefully

  1. All vehicles must be removed to the designated museum parking areas no later than 8am Saturday, and no vehicles will be allowed to reenter the living history museum display areas, including reenacting camps before 4pm Sunday.
  2. It is mandatory that once participants are in the period camps, they will remain in period attire (this includes children).
  3. All mounted troops are restricted to military camps established roads and the main battlefield, this restriction also applies to all horses, burrows and draught animals.
  4. A candle lantern tour will be presented by the re enactors for the public between 7:45pm and 10:00pm on Saturday Evening. Reenacting units are requested to participate, coordinating scenarios with the NMCWCC leadership.
  5. Gift certificate drawings will be held on Sunday at the conclusion of the that day's battle demonstration. You must be present to win.
